Marketing needs to be conscious.
I have a confession to make: I almost gave up a career in marketing.
I had been working in the industry for a few years and was doing well, but something wasn't right. I didn't feel like my work was making much of an impact on society, and it was hard for me to find my place in the world. I felt like I was spending all my time promoting products and services that didn't really matter to me, and it made me feel disconnected from the world around me.
It's such a common feeling among marketers, especially if you're a millennial. So many of us got into this field because we wanted to make the world better, but after a while, it felt like all we were doing was selling stuff people didn't even know they needed yet (or maybe never would).
Then, one day, a friend recommended a book called Conscious Marketing: How to Create an Awesome Business with a New Approach to Marketing. I found the book to be very eye-opening. It helped me realise that there is a better way to do business — one that puts people first instead of profits.
Customers are much more aware than you think.
The days of simply pushing your product or service and expecting people to buy it are over. Nowadays, consumers are more informed and savvy than ever before. They know the difference between good and bad, they can smell fake from a mile away, and they're not afraid to tell their friends about their bad experiences.
This means that if you want to succeed in business today, you need to be able to provide something truly exceptional. You need to connect with your customers and build a relationship with them!
In Conscious Marketing, Carolyn Tate offers a new approach to marketing that will change the way you do business.
